8 th Grade PartyGuidelines

1. Time: The eighth grade party is scheduled for 6:30-8:30pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024,
at Beck Junior High. To help maintain safe environment, students must arrive at the party
by 6:30 and are expected to remain until the event ends. Students are not allowed to leave
the party and return. Students who wish to leave early can only do so if a parent comes
into the party foyer and signs them out at the time they are leaving.
2. Dress: Dress for the party is casual to dressy. Appropriate attire is required for admittance
to the party. Since the party includes multiple activities, additional clarification about
girls and boys attire follows.
Girls:
Dresses or pants sets must be appropriate for school, church, recitals, teas/luncheons.
Dresses should not resemble prom dress and evening gowns. Review the following list
for additional clarification.
-Dresses must have 2” straps, no backless, strapless dresses or dresses with deep
necklines are not allowed.
-Midriffs must be completely covered (back and front) and sheer fabric in the bodice or
skirt must be lined or backed with a slip.
-Dresses should be lightly accented in beads, pearls or sequins. See through fabric and
extremely clinging fabrics are not allowed.
-Skirts must extend beyond mid-thigh and be no longer than ankle length. Floor length
dresses are not permitted. Skirts with side or front slits above the knee are not permitted.
There will be activities such jumping dancing hopping so be mindful of the length and
style of your outfit including shoes.
Boys:
-A jacket and tie are not required.
-Tuxedos are not allowed.
-Hats are not allowed.
-Pants should be full length- No shorts.
-Pants cannot be oversized and/or saggy. Must be belted at the waist.
-Shirts must have sleeve and collar.
Dress code violation will be handled in accordance with the Katy IDS Discipline
Management Plan which categorizes these as Level Two offences. If you have question

regarding the appropriateness of your attire, you may bring your intended attire to school
for administrator’s approval if there is any doubt in your mind about its appropriateness.
If you are buying the garment just for this event, do not remove the price tag if you have
any question about the garment until after you have received school approval to wear it.
3. Date: Students should plan to come and have fun with a group of friends. Dating is
discouraged.
4. Transportation: It is critical that parents make firm transportation arrangements with your
child before leaving him/her at the party. The party with be over at 8:30pm. PLEASE BE
ON TIME TO PICK UP CHILD. Since the party ends long after dark, students must be
picked up after the party by the parent or parents designated adult. It is not permitted for
students to walk or ride a bike home. Parents should drop off and pick up students at the
parking area at the west end of the school. Only family passenger vehicles are permitted
in the parking lot. Limousines and other stretch vehicles are not permitted on campus.
5. Behavior: Inappropriate behavior will result in removal from the 8 th Grade party. At such
time, parents will be called by the appropriate authority (principal or his designee) to
come and get their child. There will be no refunds to students removed from the party.
ALL KISD rules will be strictly enforced (see Discipline Management Plan and Students
Code of Conduct). Appropriate dancing is expected. Students who choose to dance in a
style which a chaperone considers inappropriate for this party will be removed from the
dance floor and required to sit out at least 2 dances. Repeatable instances of such dancing
may result in removal from the party. Students are not permitted to possess, use/consume,
or be under the influence of tobacco, vape, alcohol, illegal drugs/chemical substance. The
actions also violate state laws. See Discipline Management Plan for consequence
associated with drugs and alcohol. Law enforcement officers will be on duty throughout
the evening.
6. Ticket Purchase: Only Beck Junior High eighth graders enrolled on the date of the party
will be allowed to purchase tickets and attend the party. Each student must purchase his
or her own ticket (one ticket per student). Tickets will be sold on dates announced by the
school. There will be no refund. In order to purchase a ticket, student and parent must
sign and return the form at the bottom of the page. The ticket price for the party will not
exceed $20.00 per student. Students who are assigned to the KISD alternative campus at
any time during the 2 nd semester will not be permitted to join the party. Students who are
suspended from school or who accrue 3 days or more of ISS for a behavior which accrue
during the period April 2 nd through April 19th will not be permitted to join the party. This
decision will be made case by case basis.

7. Personal Property: An “Item Check in” station is provided. However, we suggest students
do not bring valuables or money to the party. Beck Junior High and volunteers cannot be
responsible for the safe keeping of unattended personal belongings. Items left at the party
will be held in the school office until May 26th. After this date, unclaimed items will be
donated or discarded as appropriate. Thank you.
8. Photography: The 8 th Grade Party is categorized as a public event and photos will be
taken of the students. Note your purchase acknowledges the use of photography from this event.
